This made me smile

There is nothing like coming around the corner and seeing this:

It's even better when the camera is within reach and the kids don't realize they're being watched.

As if not obvious, Holden adores Scarlett. He thinks she is the funniest, most interesting person on the face of the planet. And I think she'd agree with him on that one.

Robin Hood and Maid "Marryhim"

Scarlett likes princesses. She finds them wherever she can. We've been watching the Disney version of Robin Hood, and Scarlett has become fascinated with Maid "Marryhim." Maid "Marryhim" wears a long veil, and so Scarlett wears a long veil. Whenever and wherever she can.

Holden wants to crawl and stand...

He wants to crawl and stand very, very badly. Unfortunately, there is 25 lbs of sugar holding him down. But the effort and interest are definitely there!

Holden turns 9 months!

Oh man. I can't believe Holden is 9 months old already. Where does time go?! Seriously.

Holden is a funny little guy. He's big - obviously. He can't crawl yet - and it doesn't look like that will be happening any time soon. And he has no teeth yet either. His Dr. said that all of these things are just fine. His size is completely proportionate - 95% for height, weight and head circumference (and while you might think that 100% is the top of the chart, they actually stop at 95%. He's as big as big can be.) They also think he will just skip crawling and go right to walking. And we've come to the conclusion that he is currently working on some teeth. (He's been a bit of a pill lately. A lovely, adorable pill - but a pill none the less.)

But...Holden is doing some stuff that I find very impressive, stuff that I don't remember Scarlett doing at this age. Holden is already playing his own little game of Simon Says. It started maybe about a month ago when he would clap if we clapped...but now he does this little "touchdown!!"/hand drop thing, and he'll also shake his head no if we do. It's pretty cute. Observe.

Cute, yeah? I hope so. It's all he's got.

H-O-L-D-E-N

This morning, Scarlett was singing B-I-N-G-O to herself as we were getting ready for work/daycare. Yeah...you know the song;

"There was a farmer who had a dog and Bingo was his name-O.
B-I-N-G-O, B-I-N-G-O, B-I-N-G-O, and Bingo was his name-O."

Well, I got the song stuck in my head thanks to her royal cheekiness. I started singing it to myself too. And I might have gotten carried away. Overcome with artistic license, I decided to substitute Holden's name...H-O-LD-E-N...impressively overcoming some major syllable issues.

Scarlett wasn't having it. She protested my singing, quite loudly in fact, and told me I wasn't allowed to sing the song that way. I asked her why. Her response?

"Because mom. Holden is not his name-O."
