Parent Observation at the dance studio

The kids' dance studio had parent observation recently. Because their dance classes overlap times, I ran back and forth between their two Saturday classes trying, as a mother does, to document every single thing that happens. Ever. This is Holden's first year dancing, and it's also the first year that Scarlett is taking more than one class. In short, we spend a lot of time at this dance studio.

Here are some pictures.

First day of school!!

Scarlett and Holden had their first day of school! (ahem...last month. I know, I know. I'm trying to catch up.) Scarlett headed off to Kindergarten (can you believe it?!), and Holden started attending Side by Side's preschool. Here they are, very excited, before we left in the morning.

Holden was very excited to get a new backpack, just like Scarlett's.
And Scarlett was very excited to help Holden.
Here she is explaining everything to him. (It was, quite possibly, the cutest thing I've ever experienced as a mother.)
  Such peanuts!

Holden took his teacher's hand and walked right off with her - no hesitation.
And Scarlett picked right back up where she left off - being surrounded by little girls who are all trying to talk at the same time.
When I picked him up, Holden told me he had a fantastic time.
 A very fantastic time.
A very, VERY fantastic time. (He slept for 2 hours.)
 Yay school!

Summer recap - in photos

We've been so busy this summer. So, so busy.
We've taken hip hop dance classes.

We've been to the beach. A lot.

And parks, too. Even parks AT the beach.

We got a small pool. (In which, Scarlett learned to swim this summer.)

A tree promptly fell on that pool 1 week later. (Pool was saved.)

The kids took up running. (Scarlett is up to 3/4 of a mile.)

We went to tons of carnivals.

Tons.

We saw lots of Blake.

We got a leak in our shower drain.
We, 2 months later, still have a hole in our kitchen ceiling.

Holden can write "H-O-L" all by himself.
(And his mother is quite fantastic at writing "D-E-N.")

We hung out with some new and already good friends.

And then it was football and summer was over.

See? So, so busy.
